I have been involved in the Bible translation movement for my entire career, first working in one particular project in central Russia with a team of national translators, then in a regional leadership capacity.
I was born and brought up in the UK – and I still carry a British passport. In 1991 my family and I moved to Leningrad in the Soviet Union, soon to become St Petersburg in the Russian Federation. In 1993 we moved to central Russia, and in 2003 to my wife’s homeland, Finland, which is where we still live.
I was brought up in an English Baptist church and am still a member of it. However, I do not consider myself a Baptist, rather I am simply a follower of Jesus and am at home in any church where folk seek to love God and follow Jesus, whether it is Pentecostal or Lutheran, Welsh Chapel or Russian Orthodox, Anglo-Catholic or dancing in the aisles charismatic… or any other flavour.
